On August 25, 2023, MCD in collaboration with Can Tho University organized the thematic seminar on Mangroves and Climate Change Response. The seminar was among professional activities on promoting effective management and sustainable use of marine and coastal ecosystems, and on connecting and sharing knowledge and experience among related stakeholders. Participating in the events included nearly 90 representatives from MARE partners (HCMUNRE, VMU, VNIO, CTU, MCC) and various universities, research institutes, civil society organizations and public management agencies.

The thematic seminar introduced 3 reports with geographical focus on Ca Mau the farmost Southern province of Vietnam. The report from Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Anh Tuan from Can Tho University provided update status on mangrove forest in Ca Mau, the presentation from Ms. Le Hong Lien of the Center for Sustainable Rural Development (SRD) shared about a model of community based mangrove conservation in Dat Mui commune, and Ms. Than Thi Hien from MCD told a story of aquaculture under mangrove canopy as a livelihood solution for climate change adaptation. The thematic seminar received many constructive comments, inputs and active participation of in-person and online delegates, including those who are living and working in Ca Mau province.

The thematic seminar was a great success and brought an open opportunity for all members to create new connections for further cooperation.
